I have been working on the swing and using my hips more. I think this is better but would like feedback from you guys. Thanks.

first, can you post old swing vid link with new so we can compare without having to leave the thread.
and from what i saw, the only thing i would work on is being more fluid. kinda like a boxer telegraphing a jab. you seem commited to swing before the ball is being released. and for asa that might work, but in usssa you would be eaten alive! once you feel comfortable with your swing, you should find yourself using less energy and less procedure in your swing. it just kinda seems like you are counting steps in your head and your motions follow.
but like i said i would love to see your old vs new if you could link em together that would be great! stay focused and remember hard work pays off!

Start your swing a little later.

It looks like you are throwing your hands forward before your front foot has reached the ground.
Here is the old swing:

I have closed up my stance where I am not nearly as open. Thanks for the advice so far. I see what you guys are saying.

Any tips on how to fix that?

I'm not sure really how to fix that other than more BP work using the camera. For me, the front foot planting is what initiates the launch of my hands forward.

Ok, thanks. I think I will work on that a lot with dry swings to try to get muscle memory down right and then concentrate on it in batting practice and games.
I feel like I am making some good progress and will get things down well pretty soon. Thanks for all the help.

opie, if i were you i would cut everything prior to hitting the ball in half. half the load, half the leg kick.
i would relax and not tense up so much. the object is to be smooth all the way through, but tenseness/explosion happens when you make contact.
you have no script bro. you should be loose and have fun every time you are in the box. you have a good starter kit. relax and put some good accessories to it.
Thanks Cali. I read your first reply last night before playing in a game. I felt like I was waiting longer to start my swing, was more relaxed and not so tense. I think I also had a shorter leg kick but not sure on that. I hit the ball great. I just tried to not think so much and just stay relaxed. Sometimes I am trying to get everything right that I think too much and am too much color by numbers instead of just letting it all flow. Good advice. Thanks.

Opie, I do see a little more hip involvement. Keep up the good work. Always worry about hips in bp and just hit it hard in the game and have fun.
