I always try to keep my hands higher than the ball and drive my front shoulder slightly down as I swing but I swing down on the ball slightly.

I've found for me....That w/the overlap grip, if I push my top hand over the top of my bottom hand it helps.

Meaning my bottom hand thumb is directly in my top hand lifeline. And somewhat on the top of my bottom hand thumb, not so much the side of the thumb.

It also helps push your wrists together

it seems when i keep my eye on the ball the rest works out great if i pull my head or my eyes look up before contact for where im hitting the ball instead of focusing on the ball my mechanics get off.

I throw the hands and the rest takes care of itself...

that's a good way to look at it. trying not to over analyze is the way to go.

yes, it'll make you slow down the entire swing....

no one swings level..... Its just that some swing more level than others.... If you want to level out your swing just keep your shoulders level to and through impact. The swing is never level it just appears that way with the way someones shoulders are when they swing... Also take the knob of the bat strait to the ball with level shoulders, this will keep you from getting long with your swing while trying to level it out...

A very valid point. Thanks Scott.

I also like to take BP at 50% and just focus on swinging my arms, hands, bat parallel to the ground.
I don't focus on the ball as much as my arm swing. It's amazing to see how hard you can hit the ball w/ a good swing and less effort.
This is a great drill that works on your swing and proves that point.
But you have made me realize I need to record that drill to see if me swing is indeed getting long or staying short.

In my earlier post I was stating that sometimes it's in the grip of the bat. How you grip the bat ,the same as in golf, can affect your swing too. IE- for me have noticed that if I don't keep the hands/thumb in the opp. lifeline that the bat will tend to fall below my hands.
Not a good thing to have the barrel below the hands. And this grip, for me, corrects that problem w/o any swing manipulation.

Of course I could be completely full of it...:D
