What are your thoughts about the distance one stands away from the plate when it comes to pulling the ball, going up the middle, and/or going opposite field? Should one get further, closer for the type of hit one wants to make or should one stay planted the same place in the box. Thanks......

i think it depends on how you step into your swing. i used to step out...now i step in so i need to be off the plate a little more than before.

Chile, you can post for me if you want it doesn't bother me abit.:D As for the plate distance, I feel it is easier to pull a short pitch rather than a deep pitch . So when I go to the plate wanting to pull I move about a 6" farther back in the box than I would normally would. I try not to make it obvious to the catcher so he can not warn his defense. If I am going back side I try to move up and off of the plate, again I try not to tip my hand to the catcher though. It may be different for other hitters but that is what I do. Wegs just stands in one spot all the time.
